Aston Villa are in the French capital tonight for their Champions League quarter-final opener against Paris Saint-Germain.

Villa are continuing to cruise under Unai Emery, sitting seventh in the Premier League and progressing through the early rounds of the Champions League with flying colours, beating Club Brugge in the round of 16 by an aggregate score of 6-1.

Having downed high-flying Nottingham Forest at the weekend, Villa will look to carry that momentum into their midweek fixture as they square up to another heavyweight European side.

PSG made headlines in the round of 16 by dumping Arne Slot’s seemingly unstoppable Liverpool out of the competition after a penalty shootout at Anfield. It was a well-deserved but hard-fought win, and set the tone for what could be PSG’s best attempt at Champions League glory yet.

Luis Enrique’s men welcomed a 13th Ligue 1 title to the Parc des Princes on Saturday, but whether they can carry their domestic form into Europe remains to be seen.
