Sommer: Courage is the key to beating Bayern Munich at home

Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer stressed on Monday that his team’s courage is essential to defeating Bayern Munich at home on Tuesday in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

The former Bayern Munich goalkeeper said during a press conference ahead of the match at the Allianz Arena, “This is a very important match for us. We must be courageous. Bayern plays with high pressure and ferocity. They are a very good team. We must play our game to win this match.”

The 36-year-old goalkeeper was Bayern’s goalkeeper during the 2022-23 season, winning the Bundesliga title with them.

He said, “It’s good to be here, and I’m happy to play with Inter against Bayern in this wonderful stadium. I have good memories here, and we wanted to win more titles, but I enjoyed being here with my family, and I’m happy to be back to meet everyone.”

“Inter is having a good season in the Champions League, and even better than its performance in the league. We need more energy and strength in Serie A. It’s difficult to perform well in every match, especially since we play every three days, but we are Inter and we always seek victory,” he added.
